Rev. Donnie Holyfield

Rev. Donald “Donnie” William Holyfield, age 63, of Ararat, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Surry County on December 27, 1956 to the late Rufus Bernard Holyfield and Mary Lou Johnson Holyfield.  Rev. Holyfield was the former Pastor of New Beginnings Baptist Church and a retired self-employed roofer.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Rita Faye Cobler Holyfield; a daughter, Robin Bowman; sons, Harold Dean Bowman, Jr. and wife Melissa, Dustin Ray Collins, William Luke Holyfield and wife Cassidy, Chris Dawson and Daniel Hoover and wife Christy; a special granddaughter, Emaily Holyfield, grandchildren, Daniel James Dupree, Wyatt Dawson, and Journey Cheyenne Collins, and several other grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Harrison, special sister, Annette Holyfield, and Gail and Gary Haynes; two brothers, Kenneth Holyfield, and Ronnie and Sue Holyfield, a special nephew, Johnny Holyfield and several other nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Rev. Holyfield was preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Kay Holyfield, a brother, Bernard Lee Holyfield, and a nephew, Daniel Harrison.  Funeral services for Rev. Holyfield will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 3:30 PM.  The service will be conducted by Rev. Bill Jenkins, Rev. Terry Coe, and Rev. Ed Bowman.  Burial will follow in the New Beginnings Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:30–3:30 PM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Holyfield family.
