Rev. Estel “Dean” Eaton age 65 of Mount Airy, North Carolina went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 3, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Eaton was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on January 21, 1958 to Farley and Violet Eaton of Ararat, Virginia. He was a graduate of Patrick County High School Class of 1976. Mr. Eaton dedicated his life in service to the Lord, his family, and his church. He served as the Pastor of Northside Baptist Church for 31 years, and Pilot View Baptist Church for 6 years prior to his tenure at Northside. Prior to becoming a pastor, Mr. Eaton served 5 years in the ministry out of Willis Gap Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan who was passionate about baseball, particularly the Saint Louis Cardinals. During his time at Patrick County High School, he played on the Cougar Baseball Team for 4 years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Mabe Eaton of the home, son and daughter-in-law James and Katherine Eaton of Stuart, Virginia, and son Justin Eaton of Mount Airy, North Carolina. A grandson, Ezra Eaton of Stuart, Virginia. Parents, Farley and Violet Eaton of Ararat, Virginia. One brother and sister-in-law Doyle and Laura Eaton of Ararat, Virginia. A mother-in-law, Vernona Mabe of Mount Airy, North Carolina, members of his wife’s loving family, and many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Eaton was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Nannie Bell Dehart Eaton, maternal grandparents, Dewey and Carrie Huff Inscore, a father-in-law, James Lewis Mabe, and a brother-in-law Jimmy Ray Mabe. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church with service conducted by Rev. Tommy Nichols, Rev. Tim Gammons, Rev. Zane Fishel, and Rev. Ronnie Harrison. Burial will follow at Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church.
