Rev. George Junior Jones

Rev. George Junior Jones, age 74, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at his home.  He was born on December 8, 1948, in Surry County to the late George and Lela Atkins Jones.  Mr. Jones was retired from Bassett Furniture.  Left to cherish his memory are daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Butch Holder; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Rachel Barker, Kay Surratt, Betty Goins (Zane); brother and sister-in-law, Ricky Jones (Candy); special grandson, Devin King (Lindsey) as well as several other grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Jones; brother, Billy Ray Jones; brother-in-law, Garry Surratt, as well as several sons-and daughters.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 2:00PM at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Butch Holder, Rev. Darrell Price, Rev. Marty Hewitt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the church.
