Rev. Herbert Hoover Coleson

Rev. Herbert Hoover Coleson, 87, of Mount Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on Monday evening, May 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Coleson was born on September 12, 1929 in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Frank and Mary Bobbitt Coalson. Rev. Coleson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Lola Mae Puckett Coleson of the home; daughter, Diane Coleson McCarthy; four grandchildren, Mike and Heather Marsh, Billy and Amber Marsh, Jennifer Wills and David, and Jordan Reinhardt; six great-grandchildren, Trevor Marsh, Cloe Marsh, Taylor Marsh, Kennedy Marsh, Kenneth Wills, and Kacey Wills; sisters Pauline Bobbitt and Mary Ivey; a brother and sister-in-law, Carroll “Buster” Coleson and Betty; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rev. Coleson was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Coleson and Edith Bobbitt; brothers, Brady Coalson, Charlie Coalson, Elmo Coleson, Estel Coleson, and Bill Coleson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Serle and Glenice Puckett. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Watson, Rev. Billy Marsh, and Rev. Rayton Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at the Jonah Marshall Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday night, May 11, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
