The Rev. Jack Junior Whitaker, 66, of King, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home. The Rev. Whitaker was born November 27, 1957, in Surry County, one of six children born to the late Paul Folger and Pansy Arizona Coe Whitaker. Jack surrendered his life to Jesus Christ many years ago. He was marvelously and radically saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. He shared scriptures with conviction and clarity, as a result many souls were added to the Lord’s church from his powerful preaching and ministry. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Burton Amey; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. In addition to his parents, the Rev. Whitaker was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Whitaker Rogers and Violet Mae Whitaker; and two brothers, Paul David Whitaker and Joseph Ray Whitaker. No formal visitation or service will be held; however, friends may contact the family at the home of Louise and Burton Amey in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brenner Children’s Hospital. Please make your check payable to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, note “Brenner Children’s” on the memo line of your check, and send to Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, P.O. Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
