Rev. Johnny May Dollyhigh, age 61 of Mt. Airy and the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 in the Bahamas. Rev. Dollyhigh was born in Surry County, May 21, 1946 to Charles Raymond and Sarah Myrtle Atkins Dollyhigh. He served our country in the United States Army and was a missionary in the Bahama Islands. Surviving are his loving wife, Lenda Dolinger Dollyhigh of the home; a daughter, Julia Lenn Golding of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Erica Dollyhigh of Rolling Meadows, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan Michael Dollyhigh, Amber Lenn Golding, Robert Edward Lee Dollyhigh, Anna Maria Dollyhigh; sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Tommy Draughn of Mt. Airy; Geneva Jester of East Bend; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Ruth Dollyhigh; Grady and Ellen Dollyhigh; and Arlene Dollyhigh all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Rev. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by brothers, James Dollyhigh, Billy Dollyhigh and Ulysses Dollyhigh. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at White Plains Baptist Church, conducted by Evangelist Tim Greene. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 9:00 at White Plains Baptist Church.
