Rev. L.L. Schwemer

Rev. L. L. Schwemer, age 91 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at The Landmark Center in Stuart. He was born in Kenton, Ohio on February 25, 1918 to the late Reed Noah and Ina Virginia Kissling Schwemer. He was a graduate of Sterling College in Kansas and Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, and was pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church for ten years. He was also a moderator with the Blue Ridge Association for two years, and was a member of Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke.
Rev. Schwemer is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Ruth Schwemer of Stuart; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Patti Schwemer of Danville; Tim and Tangie Schwemer of Roanoke; and two grandchildren, Drew Schwemer of Austin, Texas and Gretchen Schwemer-Smith, and husband, Jason, of Silver Spring, Maryland; and a step-granddaughter, Jessica Moore of Danville.
Funeral services for Rev. Schwemer will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton, Dr. Ray Allen, Dr. Clint Hopkins and Rev. Wayne Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
