Rev. Lowell Malcom Schuman, 76 of Charlotte, formerly of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center Mercy in Charlotte. He was born in Cleveland, OH on January 28, 1936 to the late Leonard Michael and Natalie Elizabeth Rosen Schuman. Rev. Schuman retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant and later became a minister serving in various churches including, Highland Park in Mt. Airy. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Natalie Maria and Steve Canter of Concord; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Mary Schuman of Marion, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Brooke and Tony Gaines, Blake Canter, Katie and Clay Dowdle, Emma and Zachary Wallace and Abigail Shuman; two great grandchildren, Carter Dowdle and Lonon Dowdle; a sister, Judy Carnies of Charlotte; a nephew and spouse, Jeremiah and Leah Yoder. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schuman was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Anne Carter Langston Schuman and his second wife of 15 years, Irene Marsh Schuman. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with the Rev. Paul Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 1020 19th Street NW, Suite 475, Washington, DC 20036.
