Rev. Robert Barlow Stanley

Rev. Robert Barlow Stanley, age 79, of Dobson, NC passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening February 27, 2017 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem. He was born in Surry Co. on September 29, 1937 to the late Prather Coy Stanley and the late Olga Marion Stanley. Rev. Stanley was pastor of Mt. Plesant Baptist Church, Dobson, N.C. ,was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, and has pastored several churches in NC and VA. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Marvene Freeman Stanley of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Tommy Watts of Jonesville, Dexter and Jeffery Sizemore of Mocksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Pat Stanley of Morrisville; six grandchildren, Chris Stanley, Amanda Stanley, Rebekah Caudle, Rosanna Teal, Jamie Brown, Amy Williams; six great-grandchildren, Ethan Stanley, Aaron Caudle, Maggie Teal, Emery Brown, Eleanor Brown, Mason Williams; his lifelong friends, Bill Hardy and Homer J. Childress. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral with burial to follow in the Mount Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Terry Coe and Rev. Ralph Grose will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
