Rev. Van Roger Brindle, age 77 of Dobson passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on November 4, 1939 to the late Jasper Elmer and Stella Etta Cave Brindle. Rev. Brindle was a true man of God having served as Pastor of Shoals Baptist Church for more than eight years. After his tenure there, he served as Pastor at Salem Fork Baptist Church for eighteen years. His continued his education until he earned his Bachelors Degree while working full time as a Carpenter and raising his three wonderful children. Mr. Brindle was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He touched many lives through his journey of life here and now rests eternally in the presence of his Lord and Savior. “Well done my good and faithful servant”. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, the love of his life, for fifty-six years, Faye Baker Brindle of the home; two daughters, Ginger Brindle Slate and husband Ted of Statesville and Serena Brindle Nichols and husband Tony of Mount Airy a son, Van Christopher Brindle and wife Sherry of Dobson; five beloved grandchildren, Christian Slate, Hayden Slate, Emma Grace Slate, Landon Nichols and Luke Nichols; two sisters, Josephine Collins Goins of Mount Airy and Katye Simpson of Elkin; a brother Jackie Brindle. In addition to his parents, a sister Lou Jean Jackson and two brothers, Coleman Brindle and J.B. Brindle preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Salem Fork Baptist Church by Dr. Dan Merritt and the Rev. Sean Joplin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His body will lie-in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030 in loving memory of “Preacher Van”. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and the entire staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care.
