Rev. Wayne Davis

Rev. Robert Wayne “Papa Wayne” Davis, age 74 of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday evening December 17, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on September 11, 1950, in Surry County to the late Robert Hoyle Davis and Esther Naomi Easter Davis. He went home to our Lord almighty peacefully and with open arms. Wayne, like most knew him, leaves his legacy behind as he did many great things with his earthly body. Wayne was the founder of Country Baptist Church where he preached for many years. He was the owner of K&W Water and worked alongside his love, Debra Davis. Anytime you needed him, you could always find him providing, hunting, fishing, studying his Bible, or watching the Andy Griffith show and John Wayne show with a smile on his face. “Papa Wayne” as his grandkids would call him was a wonderful father, grandpa, friend, preacher and loving husband. He will be missed until we meet him again in the house of our Lord. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debra Jean Jones Davis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Billy Young, Stephanie and Donald Boyles, and Amy and Ricardo Bartolo; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Amber Hall, and Dustin and Kerianne Hall; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jerry Allred; special friends, Ron Adams, Stormie Speaks, and Bobby Lovill; a special cousin, Lewis Davis; his fur babies, Fancy, Cutie Pie, and Diesel; and by several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Kaye Jones Davis; and by his brother, Dennis Gray Davis. Funeral services will be held Sunday December 22, 2024, at 11:00am at Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Lamont Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10:00 – 11:00am at the church. The family would like to give a big thank you to Forsyth Medical Center 5th Floor Critical Care Unit and the Chaplin; CenterWell Home Health – King, especially to Ann, Chris, Jenna, Misty, and Kasey; to the Northern Regional Hospital Emergency Department; Crystal and Timmy Peele; Pastor Lamont Barber; and to all that have shown love and support to Wayne and the family.
