The Rev. Wesley Hubert Boyles, Sr., 78, of Mount Airy, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Genesis HealthCare in Sparta. The Rev. Boyles was born October 21, 1937, in Amelia County, VA, one of ten children born to the late Hubert and Minnie Shinault Boyles. Wesley was a dedicated Christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat. He was ordained into the gospel ministry, and he enjoyed sharing the Good News of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As the patriarch of his family, he was well known in the community, loved by many, and affectionately known as “Papa.” He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, April Boyles Morgan and Minnie and the Rev. Johnny Frye, all of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Wesley Hubert Boyles, Jr. and Lori Boyles of Mount Airy and Jeff and Sandy Hoover of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Ryan Hoover, Elijah and Charity Boyles, Sasha Sprinkle and Justin McCraw, Austin Frye and Nikki Newman, Whitney and Brandon Collins, Hunter Boyles, Dalton Frye, Ridge Frye, and Lauren Brown; four great-grandchildren, Westyn McCraw, Madyson Collins, Elam Boyles, and Maddox Newman; expectant twin great-grandsons, due in August; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Rose and Jackie Lane of Advance and Claudia and Jimmy Anthony of Siloam; two brothers-in-law, Rex Fulk and Marvin Bledsoe, both of Siloam; a sister-in-law, Gladys Boles of Cana, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, the Rev. Boyles was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jean Ridge Boyles; a son-in-law, Paul Justice “P.J.” Morgan, Jr.; five sisters, Buena Powers, Dorothy Gallimore, Polly Fulk, Jessie Bledsoe, and Maxie Southern; and two brothers, J.C. Boyles and Jerry Boyles. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Pine Hill Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Wesley Hubert Boyles, Jr. and the Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
