Reverend Billy Tucker

Reverend Billy Tucker, age 86 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by his loving family. Reverend Tucker was born on January 4, 1939, in Wilkes County to the late Luther Herman and Annie Inman Tucker. He was the former pastor of White Plains Baptist Church for 22 years. Reverend Tucker was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, and brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary “Cindy” Evelyn Tucker Hutson and Steve, Elsie Louise Tucker Coleman and Reverend Wayne Coleman, Dorothy Lynn Tucker Gunter and Billy; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Herman Tucker and Shorty, Reverend David Wayne Tucker and Thresa, John Timothy Tucker and Mandy; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Reverend Tucker was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sharon Kay Mooneyhan Tucker; a son, Charles Michael Tucker; a grandson, William Herman “Heavy” Tucker, II; and six sisters, Arlene Tucker Heller, Jo Ann Tucker Tate, Gladys Tucker McCormick, Cora Lee Tucker Edwards, Katherine Tucker Slate, Helen Tucker Hudson. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at White Plains Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Reverend David Tucker, Reverend Chris Tucker, Reverend Wayne Coleman, and Reverend Tom Delph officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, February 20, 2025, at White Plains Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
