Rex Lee Fulk

Rex Fulk (92) Siloam, NC passed away early Friday morning at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC after a 6 month stay at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy, NC. He was a family man, and loved his animals, but above all he was a Christian. He enjoyed reading his Bible, spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous friends. For the majority of his life, he farmed tobacco, gardened, and worked as a machinist at Amos and Smith Hosiery. He also worked at Southern Used Cars until the young age of eighty-five. Mr. Fulk was a dedicated member of Fairview Church of Shoals (formerly Fairview UMC) where he faithfully served his church and community. He was an active member of the Methodist Men and the choir at Fairview Church of Shoals. To know him was to truly love him. One of his favorite times of the year was Christmastime and he looked forward to seeing his lights. He took pride in decorating his yard every year with over one hundred thousand Christmas lights to share with his family, friends, and community to show his love of Jesus.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving children Jimmy Fulk of Dunnellon, FL; Regina Hardy of Shoals, NC; Mitzi Pfendt (Herbert) of Milford, NJ; and Andy Fulk (Sheila) of Shoals, NC; Grandchildren Bridget Willoughby (Jamie), Bryanna Baker (Adam), Justin Cummings (Farren), David Pfendt (Rebecca), Eric Hardy, Thomas Pfendt (Ashley), Christopher Hardy, and Tori Jessup (Brock); 13 great grandchildren and Baby Jessup coming in 2025; Brother Donald Fulk (Frankie); Sisters Bernice Nunn and Becky Wall (Jimmy); Brother-in-Law Delmer Ray Cook; and Sister-in-Law Martha Lane (Jackie).

Mr. Fulk was proceeded in death by his loving wife Polly Boyles Fulk; his parents Aubery Carl Fulk and Mabel Marion Fulk; a daughter and son-in-law Dianne and Mike Cummings, grandson Jason Cummings; infant brother Phillip Fulk; sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Hanzel Miller, and a sister Linda Cook.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7th, 2024, from 12-1:30pm at Fairview Church of Shoals. Funeral Service will follow at 2pm at the church with Pastor Brian Loper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in “Memory of Rex Fulk” to one of the following: Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zepher Rd., Dobson, NC 27017; Central Continuing Care 1287 Newsome St., Mount Airy, NC or to the Fairview Church of Shoals Cemetery Fund at 3962 Quaker Church Rd., Pinnacle, NC 27043.
