Richard Bowman

Mr. Gilmer Richard Bowman, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 20, 2019.  Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County on February 9, 1938 to the late Gaston and Glennis Quesinberry Bowman.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed.  Mr. Bowman proudly served our country in US Air Force and was a retired truck driver.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lillian Catherine Brey Bowman; four sons and daughters-in-law, William “Billy” and Jennifer Bowman, Anthony and Valerie Bowman, Robbie and Karyn Nelson, and Roderick and Debra Bowman; four grandchildren, William “Billy, Jr.” Bowman and fiancé Shannon Cass, Keith Bowman, Caroline and Cortlan Marion, and Amanda Wood and her fiancé Hunter Wilson; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Julia Shelton, and Janet and Dillard Nester; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Lunell Bowman, Mitchell and Chris Bowman, Ronnie and Debbie Bowman, and Phillip and Maxine Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Christopher Bowman and Tim Bowman; and a brother, Lyle Thomas Bowman.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday night, October 25, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
