Richard Dale Caviness

Mr. Richard Dale Caviness, 53, of Cana, VA, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at 8:41 PM at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy. He was born in Wythe County, VA on October 31, 1967, to the late June and Imogene Horton Caviness. Mr. Caviness was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Alice Edwards Caviness; daughters, Emmalee Caviness and Madelyn Caviness; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Mary Melton; grandchildren, Ace Melton and Auroa Melton; sisters, Brenda Sipe, Rose Rogers, Loretta Melton; brothers and sister-in-law, Terry and Diann Caviness, Steve Caviness, Raymond Caviness; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Caviness was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Waller, a brother, Danny Ray Caviness. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder V.J. Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in The Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is serving the Caviness family.
