Richard Kenneth Cooke

Mr. Richard Kenneth Cooke, age 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Cooke was born in Guilford County on February 28, 1937, to Charles C. Cooke, Sr. and Hallie Milton Cooke.  He proudly served our county in the United States Air Force and was a retired from Piedmont Airlines.  Mr. Cooke is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years, Joyce Holder Cooke; a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Lily Cooke; a special nephew, Sam Cooke; niece Judy Harris; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooke was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tony Holder and Rev. Billy Marsh.  Burial will follow in Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mtn Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday beginning at 12:30.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dogs For the Deaf, 10175 Wheeler Rd., Central Point, OR 97502 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
