Richard Eugene Gentry

Mr. Richard Eugene Gentry, 60, of Cana, VA, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Gentry was born August 27, 1950, in Surry County, to Frances Gentry Payne Collins. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hawks Gentry of the home; a son and two daughters-in-law, Adam and Kristie Gentry of King and Jennifer Gentry of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Charlotte Gentry, Brian Gentry, and Lane Gentry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Ronnie Haynes and Betty and Leon Mayes, all of Mount Airy; and three special friends, Edgar Crotts, David Nichols, and Johnny Strickland. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Gentry. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Albert Everidge and the Rev. Timothy Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
