Richard Aldean Hawks

Mr. Richard Aldean Hawks, 75, of 284 Meredith Lane, Lowgap, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. He was born May 29, 1935, in Carroll County, VA. He retired from the North Carolina Granite Corporation and was of the Holiness faith. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Hawks Hill of Cana, VA; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kyle Lane Hawks and his girlfriend, Rita Faye Bowman, and James Aldean and Margaret M. Hawks, all of Lowgap, and Marvin Jacob and Brenda Jane Hawks of Galax, VA; three grandchildren, Candace Avery Hill of Cana, VA, Marvin Jason Hawks of Galax, VA, and Teresa Sabrina Hawks of Lowgap; seven step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Meredith Hawks; his mother, Nina Clementine Hawks; and a brother, Amos Morgan Hawks. A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Meredith Family Cemetery, with Brother Don Collins officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
