Richard Gray Hicks

Mr. Richard Gray Hicks, 63, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 19, 2015, at his home. Mr. Hicks was born November 12, 1952, in Surry County, the son of the late Lloyd Rayvond and Anna Belle Clement Hicks. Richard retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service and later worked at Hicks Waterstoves. He is survived by his wife, Robin Moncus Hicks of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Ronald Smith and Kristy and Wayne Thomas, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kelly Hicks of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Danny Smith of Lowgap; four brothers and five sisters-in-law, Lee Roy and Minerva Hicks, Bill and Linda Hicks, Cecil and Lynn Hicks, Mark and Carol Hicks, and Peggy Hicks, all of Mount Airy; many nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Myrtle Moncus of Lambsburg, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by a brother, James Ray Hicks. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 21, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Israel Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 767 West Lebanon Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
