Mr. Richard Alan Rudisill, Sr., 79, of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Rudisill was born in Carroll County on September 19, 1937, to James Monroe and Shirley Adelaide Dalton Rudisill. He was well known throughout the area as one of the best brick masons around. Fishing being his passion, he loved it almost as much as his family. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Love Rudisill; his children, Rick Rudisill, and wife Robin, Deborah Cagle and husband, Myron, Chris Rudisill and wife, Connie, and Brandon Rudisill; a stepson, David Semones; grandchildren, Shawn Jones, Leigh Ann Smith and husband, Chad, Adam Rudisill, Dustin Jones and wife Sarah, Jordan Hawks, Hannah Rudisill, Jacob Rudisill, Kristen Rudisill; stepgrandchildren, Jesse Cagle and wife Katie and Miles Cagle; great-grandchildren, Damon Jones, Elijah Smith, Ava Smith and Cyrus Jones; great-stepgrandchildren, Dominic Trez and Mia Trez; and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Sylvia Rudisill. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rudisill was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene R. Hawks; a stepgrandson, Joey Cagle; and a brother, James Rudisill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, (on Penn St.), by Dr. Chris Benfield and the Rev. Ray Fleming. Burial will follow in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Fellowship Church.
