Richard McArthur Shough

Mr. Richard McArthur Shough, age 80 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on June 4, 1944, to the late Jacob Shough and Ether Foley Shough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Shough; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys Cannady (Buford); and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Shough, Clifford Harris (Virginia), and Robert Shough (Virgie). Mr. Shough loved to play horseshoes, cards, and Yahtzee. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. During his life, he worked hard and played hard.

Mr. Shough is survived by two sons, Jackie Shough and Richie Shough; one daughter and son-in-law, Angelia H. McBride (Brian); one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; sisters and brother-in-law, Alice Hylton, Linda Prillaman and Judy Boothe (Glenn) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Shough will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Roger Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
