Richard Leon Slate

Mr. Richard Leon Slate, 67, of Brodhead, KY, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Mr. Slate was born May 28, 1939, in Stokes County, NC, to the late Charlie and Gertie Hall Slate. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Pierce Slate; two daughters, Roseanne Matherly of Pfafftown, NC, and Teresa Slate of Waynesburg, KY; two sons, Steven Slate and Steven Anthony Slate, both of Brodhead, KY; twenty-one grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Bonnie Dominy of Loretto, TN, Juanita Burdette of Clements, NC, and Glenda Nixon of Mount Airy, NC; and a brother, Billy Slate of Mount Airy, NC. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Slate Cemetery, Asbury Road, Mount Airy, NC. The service will be conducted by Brother John Hackworth, Jr. The family is being served by Dowell and Martin Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, KY, and Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy, NC.
