Richard Linzey Taylor

Mr. Richard Linzey Taylor, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Taylor was born June 18, 1935, in Greensboro, to the late Joseph Lindzey and Margaret Sue Black Taylor. He retired as catalog store manager for Sears and then started his second career as a substitute teacher for Surry County Schools. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolina Davis "Cad" Taylor of the home; two daughters, Marie Cave and her fiancé, Tony Ramey, of Mount Airy and Lin Johnson and her husband, Terry, of Winston-Salem; a son, Joe Taylor and his wife, Carol, of Pilot Mountain; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild and one on the way; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Taylor Lupa of Macon, GA, and Barbara and Kenneth Smith of The Villages, FL; a half-sister and and her husband, Frances Harvell and Junior of Greensboro; a half-brother, Donald Sherwood of Greensboro; and a special cousin, Jack W. Simpson and Shirley of Greensboro. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro by Pastor Roger Bailey. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
