Richard Ervin "Dick" Welborn

Mr. Richard Ervin "Dick" Welborn, 85 of Winston Salem, formerly of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Welborn was born in Surry County on July 8, 1926 to the late Hubbard Arthur and Laura Bell Peele Welborn. He served our country during World War II and also during the Korean War. He retired from Quality Mills and was a member of the Mt. Airy Church of God. Mr. Welborn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marisa and Mark Richardson of Winston Salem; a son-in-law, Andy Pell of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Kelly Pell, Adam Pell and Drew Pell all of Pilot Mountain, Jessica Richardson of Kernersville and Adam Richardson of Walkertown; a sister, Irene Morris of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welborn was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Bowman Welborn; two daughters, Marsha Niston and Crystal Pell; five sisters, Lucy Welborn, Nancy Hiatt, Claudine Norman, Naomi Welborn and Minnie Welborn; six brothers, Paul, Seldon, Garl, Calvin, Joe and Silas Welborn. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Mt. Airy Church of God with Rev. Charles Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.
