Rita Anne Brinegar Mounce

Mrs. Rita Anne Brinegar Mounce, age 79, of Elkin, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born November 25, 1942, in Wilkes County to the late Guy Brinegar and Eula Walker Brinegar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlie Mounce, and her sisters, Eva Dameron and Mabel Fowler. Left to cherish her memories are daughter and son-in-law Tonya and Nick Butler; her son, Jeffrey Mounce and Stephanie Shaver; grandchildren, Wesley Mounce, William Mounce, Bethany Butler, Breanna Butler, Brett Butler, and Brittany Butler; brothers Chesley Brinegar (Colleen), Walter Brinegar (Jeanette), and Ted Brinegar (Eloise); brother-in-law Beauford Fowler, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mounce retired from Weyerhaeuser and later served as secretary for the First Baptist Church Elkin. She was a long-time faithful member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church where she loved being part of the choir and music department as well as serving as church clerk for a number of years. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the Christian Life Center of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. Services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 118 North Elkin Drive, Elkin, NC 28621 or to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care-Elkin Office 968 N. Bridge Street, Elkin NC 28621. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kind and loving care.
