Rita Sue Atkins Nichols

Ms. Rita Sue Atkins Nichols, 70, of Westfield, NC, gained her angel wings Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022.  She was born on May 16, 1952, in Surry County to the late Clandis Wilson Atkins and Violet Irene Fulk Atkins Odell.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.  Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Tamela “Tammy” Renae Hicks and spouse Deana Rae Beshears, Crystal Lee Johnson, and Kim Lowe Bolin and husband Michael Alan “Fudd” Bolin; four grandchildren, Zachary Cole Hodges and fiancé Tania Núno, Ian MacKenzie Hodges and Breanna Davenport, Savannah Lee Lowe, and Hannah Paige Blythe; great-granddaughter, Mia Isabella Núno; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Gilmer Dollarhite; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Larry and Carol Atkins, Daryll and Betty Atkins, Lonnie and Rita Atkins, and Debbie Atkins; two special nieces, Tracie Lowe and Tabatha Collins; six special nephews, Travis Atkins, Brandon Atkins, Chuck Atkins, Terry Atkins, Todd Atkins, and Tony Lowe; several other nieces and nephews; her best friend, Sara “Lottie” Coalson; and her special fur babies.  In addition to her parents, Weebie was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Wilson “C. W.” Atkins, and Bruce Atkins; a special niece, Tilda Atkins, and a special grand fur baby, Max.  Funeral services for Nana Rita will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 , at 2:00PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Brother James Collins and Rev. Randy Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00PM to 2:00PM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Nichols family.
