Rita Kay King

Ms. Rita Kay King, 68, of Ronda, passed away early Friday morning, January 28, 2022, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.  She was born July 9, 1953, in Surry County, to the late Samuel Eugene and Lorraine Eaton King.  Rita was a caring, loving, sweet, and fun woman.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks on her family.  Rita loved her grandkids dearly, and she always had a story to tell them, which was usually a scary one.  Rita loved the outdoors, cook for her family, and plants flowers.  She also loved to take walks, camping, and waterfalls.  Additionally, she loved all animals, but she loved her dogs, as they were considered her kids as well.  Rita loved her family more than anything.  They will miss all the special things that made her “Granny Rita.”  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa “Missy” Flippen Coble and Doug; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. Flippen, Jr. and Judy; her grandchildren, Hannah Beasley Robbins and Tyler, Hayden Beasley, Hailey Beasley and her fiancé, Logan Moore, Taylor Coble, Jordan Flippen, and Jacey Flippen Lewis and Alex; her great-granddaughter, Hallie Robbins; her fiancé, Clyde Luffman; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Mike Jones, Sandra and Brack Boyd, Lisa and Roger Dillon, and Dale Montgomery; her brothers, Gary King, Randy King, and Tony King; many nieces and nephews; and her two special dogs, Max and Tiger Boy.  In addition to her parents, Ms. King was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jean King Montgomery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Little Elkin Baptist Church (1161 Little Elkin Church Road, Ronda, NC  28670) at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Seth Siceloff officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the King family.
