Rita Vesta Dalton Mundy

Mrs. Rita Vesta Dalton Mundy, 94, of Cana, VA, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Mundy was born October 18, 1914, in Carroll County, VA, to the late James Robert and Louemma Elizabeth Davis Dalton. She was a homemaker and a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Colene Jones and Faye Ragland, both of Cana, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Mundy of Cana, VA, and Norris and Donna Mundy of Hillsville, VA; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Mundy of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Verlon and Hazel Combs and Worth Haynes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mundy was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Mundy; an infant daughter; a son, Marvin Mundy; a grandson, Gary Mundy; and a great-grandson, Gregory Quesinberry. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 29, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist, the Rev. Verlon Combs, and the Rev. Tommy Vass, and burial will follow in the Bobbitt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
