Robert Arlie Allen

Mr. Robert Arlie Allen, age 83 of Mount Airy, formerly of Conway, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Allen was born on October 7, 1940, in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late Robert Lee and Clara Mae Essick Allen.  Robert was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Conway, South Carolina for many years before moving to this area.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  Robert will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Surviving are his three daughters and sons-in-law, Kem Allen Jessup and Tommy, Tina Allen Joyce and Terry, Kim Stevens Lieber and Dan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley Allen and Melanie, Scott Stevens and Jackie, Chris Steven and Kim; five grandchildren, Tiffany Hiatt, Taylor Joyce, Jordon Jessup, Troy Jessup, Coty Allen; five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Luray Allen Atkins, Elva Allen Goins; one brother, Frankie Allen; sister-in-law, Pansy Allen; his best friends, Scott Fisher and Bill Brown; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death his wife, Betty Payne Stevens Allen; a sister, Mae Allen Fulk; two brothers, Glenn Allen, and Elwood Allen; sister-in-law Judy Allen; and brothers-in-law, Reverend Phillip Goins, Garnett Atkins.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens and Reverend Kevin Kilby officiating.  Interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  No formal visitation will be held.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially April Vass and Shelia Craddock; as well as caregivers, Sonia Smith and Christine Mabe for the love and care given to Mr. Allen during his illness.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
