Mr. Robert William Atkins, 59, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born May 11, 1951, in Surry County, to the late Otis William and Edith Marie Jones Atkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, JD Atkins. He was employed by North Carolina Foam Industries and was a member of The Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Judy Clore Atkins of the home; a daughter, Tonya Atkins of Dobson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tommy Atkins of Elkin, Tracey and Amber Atkins of Pilot Mountain, and Jack Edward Jr. and Jasmine Jackson of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren, Steven, Devin, Jaden, Skylar, Trey, Camden, and Rylee; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Red Gammons of Mount Airy; a special sister-in-law, Brenda Starling of Mount Airy; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gurney and Ronda Atkins of Dobson, Danny Wayne Atkins of Dobson, and Warren and Rita Atkins of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Blackwater Community Church, with the Rev. Ted Crotts, the Rev. Ray Hutson, the Rev. Donnie Holyfield, and the Rev. Ken Aman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Blackwater Community Church. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Atkins family.
