Robert "Bob" Franklin Banks

Mr. Robert Franklin “Bob” Banks, age 93, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. Mr. Banks was born in Surry County, November 8, 1930, the son of the late Clarence Robert and Dolly Campbell Banks. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Banks was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Surviving are his wife, Leona Gray Banks; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Eddie Gammons; grandchildren, Emily Mabe and her husband, Mitch, Chase Gammons, and his wife, Sara; great grandchildren, Knox Gammons, Ivy Gammons, and Walker Mabe; brother-in-law, William Gray; special cousins, Curtis and Susan Holshouser.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brothers, Jim Banks, George Banks, David Banks, and Bill Banks. Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Thursday December 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dorothy Sullivan and Rev. Ron Chamblin, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 until the hour of the service.
