Robert Cecil Bowman, Jr

Mr. Robert Cecil Bowman, Jr., 64, of 219 Atkins Lane, Mount Airy, passed away early Friday morning, May 27, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Bowman was born August 25, 1951, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Robert Cecil “Red” Bowman, Sr. and Annie Susan O’Neal Bowman. Junior owned and operated Bowman Roofing for many years and was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Jones Bowman of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Wesley Tucker of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. “Robbie” and Kim Bowman of Pinnacle; three grandchildren, Jacob Bowman and Madison Bowman, both of Pinnacle, and McKenzie Tucker of Ararat; a brother, Michael O’Neal Bowman of Ararat; and special friends, Jimmy and Loraine Patrick, Steve and Dawn Marshall, Leon Hutchens, and Tommy Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Lee Bowman. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 3:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Tucker, the Rev. Bill Tucker, and the Rev. Tom Delph officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
