Robert William Boyd

           Mr. Robert William Boyd, age 72 of Ararat, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Surry Community Health and Rehab in Mt. Airy, NC.  He was born in Patrick County on December 29, 1946 to the late Orville Boyd and Emeline Sizemore Boyd.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Turner Boyd.  Mr. Boyd had served in the U.S. Army.

            Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angie Boyd of Ararat; two grandchildren, Alexandria Boyd and Trace Boyd; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Garry Boyd of Meadows of Dan, Roger Boyd of Martinsville, Kenneth and Evelyn Boyd of Meadows of Dan, Jerry Boyd of Meadows of Dan; and a special friend, Henry Campell.

            A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11 AM at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dewayne Troutt officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1961 Willis Gap Rd, Ararat, VA 24053.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements.
