Robert Henderson Brock

Mr. Robert Henderson "Randy" Brock, 54, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. Mr. Brock was born November 23, 1954, in Tallahassee FL, the son of the late Thomas Edgar and Wanda Lee Head Brock. Mr. Brock was a member of the Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF and AM and was a self- employed paint contractor. Surviving are his wife, Laura Bowman Brock of the home; a daughter, Olivia Suzanne Brock of the home; his father and mother by marriage, O.L. and Doris Bowman of Mount Airy; two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Joe and June Bowman of Wendell and Mark and Cindy Bowman of Greensboro; a sister-in-law and her husband, Margie and Mac Abbitt of Plymouth, IN; a life-long childhood friend, Harry D. (Forest) Brown of Fletcher; a special friend, Larry Lichvar of Mount Airy; a sister, Diane B. Hale of Raeford; and a brother, Tommie Brock of Kannapolis. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Chapel in Mount Airy, with the service conducted by the Rev. Richard Loman and the Rev. Terry Freeman. The Brock family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the UNC Memorial Hospital Liver Research Department, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, or to the charity of the donor's choice. The Brock family wants to thank the staff of the UNC Memorial Hospital, especially the Medical ICU, for the care Randy received during his stay at the hospital.
