Robert Cleveland Flowers, Sr.

           Mr. Robert Cleveland Flowers, Sr., age 86, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his home.  He was born on December 9, 1932 in Adel, GA to the late Robert Preston Flowers and Susie Weeks Flowers.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Hall Flowers; and two sisters, Virginia F. Gilley and Juanita F. Davis.  Mr. Flowers served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 105.  He had retired as a Deputy with the Martinsville City Police Department.  He was an ordained minister and a member of Preston Wesleyan Church where he led Wednesday night Bible study until his health declined.

            Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Cleveland Flowers, Jr. and wife, Alicia F. of Summerfield, NC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Catheryn Flowers Joyce and husband, Jay of Elkin, NC, Joanie Elizabeth Flowers McPeak and husband, Steve of Martinsville; six grandchildren, Zachary McPeak, Bethany J. McPeak, Ashley McPeak Maguire, Karen Garraputa, Richard Garraputa, Dawn Rubas; four great grandchildren, Emma Parrish, Clare Parrish, Rowan Maguire, Mae Maguire; and four sisters, Nadine F. Critz of Martinsville, Barbara F. Yates of Daytona Beach, FL, Melba F. Spencer of Stuart, Betty Rae Flowers of St. Robert, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Revs. Alvin Wooters and Marty Furrow officiating.  Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.  Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 E.
