Robert “Bob” Gayer passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025 in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Bob was born on August 26, 1937 in Paterson, NJ to the late Archie and Francis Gayer. A devoted husband and father, Bob lived a life filled with purpose, faith,and service to others.
Bob graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1955 and from San Fernando State College, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. His career spanned various roles in sales and promotions, and included working with the Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Team and the Shrine Circus. From 1980 to 1989, he found great fulfillment as the Executive Director of the United Way in Staunton, Virginia. Later, he founded Business Energizers, an advertising agency that he operated for approximately 15 years.
Bob and his wife were co-founders of LightShine Ministries International. For over 20 years, they traveled extensively across the United States, ministering in churches and donating Bibles and Christian materials worldwide. Bob remained dedicated to thismission until his passing. Bob’s deep faith guided him throughout his life. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and continuously sought to help those in need of hope and healing. He selflessly served others through ministry, mentoring and volunteering. Bob loved nature and traveling, as well as spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Diane Stever, his loving wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Michal Gayer, and his grandson Ryan Morelock. He is survived by his brother Archie Gayer (Shirley) of Nevada, sons Robert Morelock (Norma) of California, Robbyn Gayer (Terri) of Norfolk, and Brett Gayer (Cassie) of Mount Airy; grandchildren Jasper, Gavin, Caroline, and Meredith Gayer, Drew and Breanna Morelock, and Katrina Cloud (Jason); and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Wendover Hills Church, 2206 Joy Dr, Jamestown, NC 27282 on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00pm. Casual dress is requested. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to the cause of your choice. Bob’s unwavering positivity and generosity left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all those who were touched by his kindness.
