Mr. Robert Anderson Jarvis, III, 89, of Aledo, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Robert was born August 28, 1935, in Mount Airy, the son of the late Robert A. and Daisy Horton Jarvis. He grew up in Mount Airy and graduated from Mount Airy High School. He was an athlete in high school and worked several jobs to support his family. He delivered the daily newspapers, ran the projector at the movie theater, and worked at his Uncle Jim’s catering business every summer with his sister, Margaret. They grew up with very little money and had no car. They literally walked everywhere. When Robert graduated from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served for 21 years and retired honorably with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was an expert marksman with both the rifle and pistol. Robert received several medals, including the National Defense Service Award and Good Conduct Award. After retiring from the Marines, Robert received a degree in drafting from the University of Texas at Arlington. He graduated with honors and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He worked as a draftsman, creating technical drawings for machines, aircrafts, and other projects for REI, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. Robert was a member of North Irving Baptist Church. He volunteered in the Church Coffee Ministry, always greeting church members with fresh coffee and snacks. He took great pride in serving others. Robert loved attending all the sporting events for his sons and his grandchildren. He was a talented artist, liked to play cards, and loved gospel and classical music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jarvis was preceded in death by his son, Robert Anderson Jarvis, IV. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jennifer Jarvis; his granddaughters, Alyssa Harrington, Karli Jarvis, and Lauren St. Peters; his grandsons, Caden Jarvis, Jerret Jarvis, and Colton St. Peters; his great-grandson, Lawsen Harrington; his great-granddaughter, Navy Jarvis; his sister, Margaret Smith; his former spouse, Karen Finger Jarvis; and a host of extended family members and a lifetime of friends. Like the meaning for the Marine Corps’ motto, “Semper Fidelis,” Robert was always faithful to his family, his country, and to our Lord, Jesus Christ. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX. The family will receive friends Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at White’s Funeral Home in Weatherford, TX. This announcement is a courtesy of Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy.
