Robert Dean Jones

Mr. Robert Dean Jones, 71, of 137 Nevada Avenue, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Jones was born January 12, 1939, in Surry County, son of the late Robert Wilson "Bill" and Beulah Marie Hall Jones. He retired from Parkway Ford and attended Welcome Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kay Wood Jones of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Angela Jones of Asheboro and John and Malea Jones of Greensboro; a stepdaughter and her husband, Karen and Darrell Rogers of Lowgap; two stepsons, Brian Hicks and Greg Hicks and his wife, Glenna, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Chase Jones and Lauren Jones, both of Greensboro; two stepgrandchildren, Shane Hicks and Miranda Hicks, both of Mount Airy; and a special nephew, Mike Walker of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jones Monday. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Welcome Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bailey Elmore and the Rev. Roscoe Creed officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
