Robert Lee "Bob" Knight

Mr. Robert Lee "Bob" Knight, 78 of Stuart passed away Saturday evening at his home. He was born in Lawsonville, N.C. on December 25, 1934 to the late Russell Valentine and Frances Grace Doss Knight. Mr. Knight was an active member of Concord Church of Christ. He was Commander of the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard and V.F.W Post 7800, an instructor for Hunters Education for over twenty years, a range inspector for the N.R.A. and was instrumental in founding the Patrick County 4-H Shooters Club and range.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Knight was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Romero Belcher and a brother, Cecil A. Knight.
Surviving Mr. Knight are his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo Swaim Knight of the home; four sons and daughter-in-law: Phil Hunt of Thomasville, N.C., Tommy Knight of Midlothian, Texas, Jonny Knight and wife Tricia of Midlothian, Texas and Russell Knight of Stuart, three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Scott and husband Michael, Deborah Kerce and husband Joe and Bobbi Jo Bird and husband Jackie, all of Stuart; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and four brothers: Lewis F. Knight, Donald R. Knight, and Noah D. Knight of Stuart and Josiah D. Knight of Chapel Hill, N.C.
A celebration of life for Mr. Knight will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at Concord Church of Christ with Brother Lewis Knight officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Knight Family Cemetery. The Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the service and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, c/o Roy McAlexander, 64 Blacksmith Rd., Meadows of Dan, VA 24120.
