Robert Lee Allen

Mr. Robert Lee Allen, age 72 of Mount Airy passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Allen was born on December 5, 1949, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Floyd and Virginia Gwynn Allen.  Robert was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.  Robert was the owner/operator of Allen’s Garage for more than 30 years. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Gladys Widner Allen, a son, David Leon Allen; two stepsons, Dean Key, Michael Key; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda Mahaley Hylton and Wilbert of Woolwine, VA, Teresa Darlene Love and Estel of Pilot Mountain; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest Harvey Allen and Bonnie of Hillsville, VA; special friends, Gail and Tony Smith, Randy Brown, and James Martin.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lewis Allen, a sister, Della Mae Reece, and two brothers, William Ellis Allen and Franklin “Hambone” Allen.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Austin Caviness officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM at Moody Funeral Home.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
