Robert Gayle Perry

Mr. Robert “Bob” Gayle Perry, 72, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Monday, February 1, 2021.  He was born in Grayson County, VA, February 21, 1948, to the late Richard Gayle and Zera Louise Youngblood Perry.  Bob was steadfast and fiercely loyal to his family and friends.  He was excited the day he became an uncle and treasured the time he was able to share time with him.  He had a great sense of humor, he always enjoyed greeting people with his kindness, and then he would share a little joke to create a smile.  Bob and his wife rode motorcycles together, making many fun trips with other professional friends in the Goldwing Club for a number of years.  A dream was fulfilled over five years ago when Bob purchased his Harley Trike which he enjoyed riding every chance he got.  He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, serving as a deacon , and head of security.  Bob enjoyed collecting T-shirts.  He was always excited to find a new T-shirt with a humorous or clever statement, many times sharing them with friends.  He worked with EMS in Randolph and Surry Counties for many years, and later volunteered with the Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad.  After retiring from EMS, Bob became a licensed mortician and worked with Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 50 years, Joyce Greenwood Perry; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth McCormick and Greg; a nephew Joey McCormick; his mother-in-law, Mary Greenwood; brothers-in-law, Danny Greenwood, and Charles Greenwood and wife, Sharon.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, with Rev. Andy Hughes officiating.  There will not be any formal visitation.  Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy are assisting the Perry Family.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
