Mr. Robert Sylvian Semones, 78, of Mount Airy, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, May 10, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Semones was born March 5, 1943, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late Howard Wales and Nina Branscome Semones. Sylvian was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He retired as a construction superintendent from J.G. Coram Company and was a faithful member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Argie Burnette of Hillsborough and Stephanie and Tony Kimmel of Westfield; five grandchildren, Ariana Burnette, Argie Burnette, Jr., Avinson Burnette, Chase Gammons, and Hunter Gammons; a great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Robert Stanley of Ararat, VA; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Cassell and Freida Semones and Wayne and Dianne Semones, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Semones was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Lovelene Combs Semones; and an infant grandchild. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with Dr. Chris Benfield officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
