Robert Junior Shumate

Mr. Robert Junior Shumate, age 81 of Dobson, passed away December 1, 2020, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1939 in Surry County to the late Robert Lee and Tavie Francis Shumate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Hill Shumate; brother, Billy Shumate, brother and sister-in-law, Denny “Dink” and Gaye Shumate; and sister-in-law, Renda Shumate. He is survived by his son, Jeff Shumate; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Ray Freeman, Sharon and Johnny Caudill; brothers and sister-in-law, Bobby and Linda Shumate and James Shumate. Mr. Shumate was retired from Weldon Rope in Pilot Mountain. A private family graveside service will be conducted Friday in the Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Shumate family.
