Robert Banner Sutphin, Sr.

Mr. Robert Banner “Bobby” Sutphin, Sr., 72, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday morning, February 6, 2022, in Lexington.  Mr. Sutphin was born December 10, 1949, in Surry County, the son of the late Bill and Pat Crigger.  Bobby graduated from North Surry High School in 1969, and then he served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.  He later retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after many years of service.  He is survived by two sons, Matt Sutphin and his fiancée, Angela Atkins, and Scott Sutphin, all of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Taylor Sutphin, Lacey Sutphin, Maison Sutphin, and Morgan Sutphin; a half-brother, Bruce Crigger; the mother of his children, Jill Sutphin Hall; and two loving friends, Danielle Edwards and DeeDee Green.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sutphin was preceded in death by a son, Robert Banner Sutphin, Jr.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
