Robert Dale Wegner

Mr. Robert “Bob” Dale Wegner, 75 of Mount Airy (formerly of Lake Mary, Florida) passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Wegner was born on July 17, 1946, in Waukesha County, Wisconsin to the late Ernst and Ruth Ann Christensen Wegner.  Mr. Wegner was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  Bob loved his grandchildren, playing sheepshead, coaching, and officiating youth sports, and working as a camp host at Pilot Mountain State Park.  He was a caring and giving person who was willing to help others in their time of need, especially the children of Surry County.  Bob spent many years in Coleman and Pound, Wisconsin where he made friends that he treasured. Mr. Wegner will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Christine Wegner Kirst and husband Mark; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Wegner and wife Terri, Jeffrey Wegner; grandchildren, Jonathan Kirst, Jacob Kirst, Carly Wegner, Tyler Wegner, Sydney Wegner, Dolin Wegner; great-granddaughter, Harley Kirst; special friend Anna Songer; one step-granddaughter, Rachelle Dickinson; one sister and brother-in-law, Sally Wegner Anton and husband, Andrew; along with many loved cousins.  Mr. Wegner was preceded in death by his parents.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the family.
