Robert Lane Willard

Mr. Robert Lane Willard, 74, of 1215 Reeves Mill Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, December 21, 2009, at his home. Mr. Willard was born July 15, 1935, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late Roy D. Willard and Lena Easter Willard Sechrist. Lane served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the John S. Clark Company with more than 25 years of service and was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Bobbitt Willard of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Cheri Willard of Durham and Darren and Debbie Willard of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Adam Willard and Holly Willard, both of Durham, and Tony Willard of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Nicholas Ryan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Georgia Mae Bell of Mount Airy and Jean and Perry Easter of Rural Hall; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Eddie Lee Willard of Cana, VA. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 11:00 AM at True Vine Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rawley "Dink" Haynes, Jr. and the Rev. Verlon Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
