Mr. Roby “R.J.” Hardy 81, of Mt. Airy, passed away at his home Friday, July 9, 2021.  He was born in Surry County, North Carolina on July 11, 1939, to the late Roby James and Ethel Doss Hardy.  Mr. Hardy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years, Janet Louise Badgett Hardy; one daughter Shelia Hardy; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Hardy and Shelia “She She”; one grandchild, Jessica Hardy; one step-grandchild, Heather Lowry; three step-grandchildren, Will Lowry, Sadie Lowry, and Hunter Lowry; three sisters, Mary Kaye Snow, Faye Tucker, and Shelby Marsh; several nieces and nephews, along with several special friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hardy.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 5:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church.  Moody Funeral Services of Mount Airy is serving the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
