Mr. Rodger Anderson Holt, 62, of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at his home. Mr. Holt was born November 13, 1946, in Patrick County, VA, to the late David Oscar and Susie Gammons Holt. Rodger served in the United States Army with time spent in Vietnam. He retired from Unifi, Inc. after 29 years of service and attended Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his tractor, cutting wood, and going on camping trips. He is survived by his wife, Janette Gentry Holt of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Nicole Holt of King and David and Jeanette Holt of Mount Airy; a daughter, Tracy Fowler of Mullins, SC; four step-sons, Kenneth Carter of Stoneville, Brandon Holt of North Wilkesboro, Mike Holt of Mount Airy, and Travis Holt of Cana, VA; a stepdaughter, Kendra Leonard of Cana, VA; six grandchildren, Brooke Holt of Raleigh, Lindsay Holt and Blake Holt, both of Mount Airy, Reagan Holt of King, Courtney Fowler and Cody Fowler, both of Mullins SC; nine step-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally and Archie Beverly, Alice and Johnny Hawks, Betty Corns, Mae Whitt, and Esther and Ray Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Holt, Ernest and Rhonda Holt, and Ronnie and Mary Holt; and his mother-in-law, Christine W. Gentry. In addition to his parents, Rodger was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Holt and Junior Holt; a sister, Shirley Marion; and two grandchildren, Samantha Fowler and Joshua Fowler. The ffuneral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Tommy Vass officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to Sabrina McKeithan with Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care Rodger was given during his illness.
