Roger Gray Chandler

Mr. Roger Gray Chandler, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday night, August 15, 2017, at his home. Mr. Chandler was born June 6, 1941, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late Joe Bill and Thelma Crissman Chandler. Roger retired from Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Inez Goins Chandler of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Frazier of Davidson; two grandchildren, Chandler Frazier and Sydney Frazier, both of Davidson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Phillip and Joanne Chandler of Cana, VA, and Haywood Chandler of Elma, WA; several nieces and nephews; and a special great niece, Jennifer Grumbach of Angier. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Woods; and a brother, Ernest Chandler. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Unity Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Stewart R. Mauck officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
